Anchor Trinidad 2009 16 YO #100 57.5%

In recent years, newly released whiskies, even those with impressive settings and advanced ages, have maintained high prices. Rum, however, offers an alternative choice among spirits. In recent years, TGS has dedicated itself to exploring various types of rum with everyone, hosting numerous rum tastings to dispel preconceived notions about rum and open doors to a new world. This time, I happened to find a Cask Sample that I love, just as I usually describe rum: it has complexity, cask flavor, isn't overly sty, and boasts rich and layered fruit flavors.

Trinidad Distillers Limited (TDL), located in the country of Trinidad, has collaborated with the Australian brand Anchor to release this product. Cask number #100, it has been aged entirely in bourbon casks for 16 years, including 10 years in tropical regions. Below are our tasting notes:

Nose: Beeswax, mango, and all kinds of grapefruit burst forth like a fruit bomb.

Palate: Still Beeswax, but with a stronger flavor of dried mango and mango sauce, followed by a slight sea breeze and other fruits.

Finish: The aftertaste is lingering, with the aroma of sea breeze and mango lingering on the palate.

It's a rum that emphasizes mango flavor without being overly gelatinous, with a balanced top and bottom, and a complex and varied flavor profile.
