2005 Gordon & Macphail Connoisseurs Choice Craigellachie 13 Year Old Single Malt Scotch Whisky

2005 Gordon & Macphail Connoisseurs Choice Craigellachie 13 Year Old Single Malt Scotch Whisky

A 2005 Craigellachie distillation that filled four Bourbon barrels. In June 2019 Gordon & MacPhail bottled it up for the Connoisseurs Choice series, with a release of 1,314 bottles. Great review from Jim Murray below.

Other reviews... beautifully tangy citrus complements the salty tannins... mega salivating qualities as the barley is driven home by a controlled but intense oaky tailwind; so much sparky vanilla; salty and slightly sharp. Nothing dull at any point here... a very characterful Speyside malt of unusual depth to its high quality.
92.5 points - Jim Murray's Whisky Bible 2021

Notes from G&M... NOSE: Sweet and light floral aromas with apple blossom lead to malted barley. Pear and lime combines with soft vanilla fudge. Chocolate and traces of fresh pine develop together. TASTE: Sweet floral notes with black pepper and green apple evolve into flavours of creamy keylime pie. Hints of aniseed develop with an undertone of ripe banana and toasted oak. FINISH: Light bodied; liquorice and toffee combine on the finish.
